IBE Editor is a simple Minecraft GUI mod to edit an item, a block or an entity in your current world.
🕓 History
This project started all the way back in January 2017 under the name “Item Editor”, then one year later became IBE Editor.
At this time, I was interested in making custom maps and wanted a simple mod to create custom items and entities because at the time, I found that using commands was tedious and time-consuming. Unable to find what I was looking for, I decided to make my own mod instead.
I had been using Minecraft modding as a fun opportinity to improve on my skills in Java programming for months prior to this project. So even though this wasn’t my first attempt at a Minecraft mod, it was the first one—and the only one to this day—that I’ve published on CurseForge (a mod publishing platform).
🚀 Evolution
Despite not adding new features to the mod very often, I still updated it everytime a new version of the game came out in order to make the mod able to run on the new version.
It eventually grew popular among server adminstrators and map creators, totalling to this day over 600K downloads.
Today, I no longer maintain this mod—recent Minecraft updates have made it very difficult to simply port the mod to newer versions of the game without having to rewrite a large portion of it. And besides that, the motivation to keep the project going after all these years isn’t there anymore.
An archive of the source code is still available on GitHub.
